Dear Fellow Section Members,

It is an honor to serve as your Chair this year.

Whether you are a veteran neutral, new to the practice, or an attorney representing clients in mediation or arbitration, the Section is here to help you enhance your dispute resolution skills. We invite you to engage with the Section’s many offerings:

  • Stay Informed and Participate: Engage in discussions about national and local trends and rule changes affecting mediation, arbitration, and neutral processes.
  • Join Us Online: Participate in our Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions and our free monthly Arbitration and Mediation Forums to learn about the art and business of being a professional neutral.
  • Attend Our Retreat: Join us for an out-of-state retreat to civil rights sites in Alabama from September 19-22, 2024.
  • Connect at Mixers: Network at the Mediation Mixers in October 2024.
  • Learn from Veteran Neutrals:  Attend our bi-annual Mediation Mentoring Academy from February 28 – March 1, 2025.
  • Diversify Mediator Shortlists and Arbitrator Panels: Get involved with the activities of the Justice, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (JEDI) Committee.
  • Stay Updated: Read “The Common Ground,” our bi-annual newsletter, along with our regular “News and Tips” and the Section’s social media for the latest updates.
  • Exchange Ideas: Share and discuss ideas on the Section’s members-only ListServ.
  • Attend Meetings: Join us in-person at our two open Section meetings – Winter Bar Meeting in January 2025 and Annual Bar Meeting in June 2025.

The Section offers many opportunities to deepen your expertise in dispute resolution and contribute to our field. Our 1,000+ members include lawyers from all over Florida and from various areas of law. As your Chair, I look forward to connecting with you and hearing your ideas on how we can make our Section and dispute resolution in Florida even better.

All the best,
