Do’s, Don’ts, and Ethics of Advocating at a Mediation. Course number 5905. Credits: 1 CLE; 1 Civil Trial; 0.5 can be used toward Ethics. Section members register for only $50.

Join us in September for a two-part series on Mediation Advocacy v. Trial Advocacy, presented by Francis L. Carter, Miami; Karen Evans-Putney, Miami; and Oscar A. Sanchez, Miami. This program is a two-part panel discussion (two segments, 50 minutes each) by highly experienced mediators who will alternate in moderating each of the segments of the program. Section members register for each segment for only $50 or register for both parts to receive a 20% discount.

The program is intended to provide experienced civil litigators and trial lawyers, as well as mid-level lawyers doing their first mediations, with do’s, don’ts, and tips for better advocating for their client in a mediation, which is radically different than advocating for a client in a court setting. In addition, the program will discuss professional ethical problems in the mediation setting, including references to specific Florida Bar Rules of Professional Conduct.
