When the parties reach “the end of the road in their negotiations, impasse can occur. The mediator and the parties must recognize that the mediator still has a “silver bullet” to assist the parties with a possible settlement. This program will offer tips on how to create and execute a mediator’s proposal, while staying within the applicable ethical rules and guidelines and affording the parties the right of self-determination.
A member of the Florida Bar for more than 42 years, Circuit Court Judge for 26 years, with 13 years assigned to the Civil Division. Gregory P. Holder has limited his practice to service as a neutral since January 2021. A member of the prestigious National Academy of Arbitrators (nadn.org), Greg is also a Federal, Circuit Civil, and County Mediator, on several private and public rosters of neutrals as a mediator. With more than 1500 mediations conducted over his four years running a group mediation practice, he has earned a wealth of practical knowledge – much learned the hard way – about various techniques to avoid impasse and achieve settlement.
